Today is the next to last update from trip to the Tampa area for Baseball's Spring Training 2011. There's only a few games to cover here today, but later this week I'll list my best and worsts of each Stadium and Arena I visited.
Today's Topics
- Boston Red Sox @ Pittsburgh Pirates (Sunday, March 13th)
The game at Bradenton was an interesting one. The Red Sox had Beckett on the mound and while they started early, the Pirates got to Beckett and started a beatdown which allowed for an easy win. The Stadium was okay, but the seating area was terrible. The seats were like those old corrective posturing seats they have for middle school kids and the aisles were narrow, meaning if you got up you were basically stepping on everyone's toes since the seats weren't folding. It was very uncomfortable and the only downside to what was a quality stadium.
- Pittsburgh Pirates @ Baltimore Orioles (Monday, March 14th)
The next day was the final day as we went to Sarasota for a final time. While the Pirates early pitching was good, the relief pitching allowed the Orioles to come back and blow them out. The Orioles can definitely hit the ball and the Pirates finally showed their weakness: Relief pitching.
- New York Yankees @ Boston Red Sox (Monday, March 14th)
The final game led us about 90 minutes south to Ft. Myers as the Sox hosted the Yanks. I felt both teams took this game way too seriously. It was really slow and low scoring. The park was nice, but it was hard to get to and from your seats. The parking was great, very easy to get in and out of while the food was adequate. If the game was a bit more high scoring and the pacing was quicker it would've been a great end to the trip.
That's all for now. Until my next post!
